An amazingly beautiful specimen of a well-formed Cactus quartz intergrown crystals, also known as Spirit Quartz. The large varigated light amethyst quartz crystals are surruounded with a druzy of more crystals radiating from the base and up the sides. From Mpumalanga, South Africa. #a34g
Physical Characteristics:
- Color is clear to purple
- Luster is glassy to vitreous.
- Transparency: Crystals are transparent to translucent.
- Crystal System is trigonal; 3 2.
- Crystal Habits are hexagonal prisms terminated with a six sided pyramid. Druse forms (crystal lined rock with just the pyramids showing) are also seen.
- Cleavage is very weak in three directions (rhombohedral).
- Fracture is conchoidal.
- Hardness is 7.
- Specific Gravity is 2.65. (average)
- Streak is white.
- Dimensions: 2 7/16" by 1 7/8" by 1 1/8" (61mm x 47mm x 28mm) at widest points
