9540A testing shows that Scigold’s nickel-zinc batteries do not exhibit
thermal runaway, making them non-flammable and non-reactive to air and
water. The aqueous electrolyte lacks the flammability and reactivity of
organic solvent-based electrolytes used in lithium batteries, which,
when failed, can emit toxic fumes. Compared to lead-acid batteries,
Scigold’s nickel-zinc batteries do not out-gas during normal operation.
The result is reduced safety-related infrastructure, lower costs, and
peace of mind.
Reliable
Nickel-zinc batteries offer superior
reliability compared to lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries. The cells
remain conductive even when weak or depleted, thanks to the combination
of highly conductive electrolyte that does not significantly change
composition as the cell ages or varies in its states of charge as well
as the lack of positive electrode grid corrosion. The inherent safety of
nickel-zinc batteries eliminates the need to compromise reliability for
safety-related battery shutdowns, as often seen in other volatile
chemistries.

The stable, non-corroding positive
nickel current collector in nickel-zinc batteries enables a long
operating life, up to three times that of lead-acid batteries.

carbon footprint of a nickel-zinc battery is significantly less than
lead-acid or lithium batteries. Nickel-zinc batteries’ lifetime
greenhouse gas emissions are four times lower than lead-acid and six
times lower than lithium-ion emissions. Nickel-zinc batteries use
common, widely available, conflict-free materials. Nickel and zinc are
abundant in the earth’s crust, respectively, four and five times more
than lithium and lead. They are also fully recyclable, environmentally
friendly with a low carbon footprint, and not hazardous.

any defects are found, the Scigold battery will be replaced free of

caused by misuse or exceeding normal usage limits.
