This Nambu cast iron kettle represents over 900 years of tradition, originating during the peak of the Fujiwara clan's influence in Hiraizumi, Oshu. With its unique iron-sand processing and refined aesthetics, Nambu tekki is highly regarded both in Japan and abroad.

This model features a Suyehiro (fan-shaped) design with a textured surface and is compatible with both open flames and induction cooktops.

Boiling water in a cast iron kettle helps remove impurities such as chlorine, resulting in smoother, better-tasting water. It also helps retain heat longer.

Care Instructions for Nambu Tetsubin

Before first use, rinse lightly with water. Then, boil green tea (wrapped in cloth or a paper tea bag) for about 10 minutes to condition the interior and prevent metallic odor.

Although treated to resist rust, always empty the kettle after use and leave the lid off to allow it to dry using residual heat.

If rust appears, it can still be used safely unless the water changes color or emits an odor. If so, repeat the green tea boiling method above.

A yellowish mineral deposit may form inside—this is natural and can be left untouched.

Do not use detergents, abrasive cleaners, or scrubbing brushes.

For the exterior, wipe with a damp cloth while still warm to enhance its sheen. Do not touch or clean the interior.
