RARE!

This is a beautiful set of 12 plates from Charles & Thomas Ford (C.T Ford) China Company  at Cannon Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England, ca. 1860s. In 1854 Carles & Thomas Ford commenced manufacturing at a works in Cannon Street which dated back to the beginning of the nineteenth century. 

"Charles Ford manufactured here the best class of china in tea, breakfast, desert and table services for the home markets. Charles for built up a large trade from 1874 and continued to about 1904" - Jewitt,Ceramic Art of Great Britain 1800-1900.

Each 9.5 inches wide, with a raspberry/magenta pink border and gold designs. The pink edge is decorated with small gold beehive shapes and swirls, with gold lines running along both the inner and outer edges.

Each plate has a different flower painting in the center on a white background. The flowers include pink and yellow roses, bright blue flowers, tulips, and mixed flower bunches. One plate shows an interesting blue plant that looks like a palm leaf.

 They are in very good shape - the colors are still bright, the gold is still shiny, and there don't seem to be any chips or cracks. The hand-painted details and great condition suggest these were special display plates, meant to be admired rather than used for meals.

Condition: In excellent vintage condition,  no chip, repair, or crack. One has crazing on the surface, pls see the last picture
