The History of
... Bovet.... There is nothing Britain possesses,” wrote the
Emperor Quianlong to King George III, “that the Celestial
Empire can possibly need.” Except for one thing. Watches were the
only foreign products that interested the Chinese elite.
Quianlong himself had a sizeable collection. While Britain resorted
to gunboats and opium to force the Chinese market to open, it
was a Swiss businessman who found the key. 21-year-old Edouard
Bovet arrived in Canton in 1818 and almost immediately sold
four watches for 10,000 francs — about a million US dollars
today. Edouard Bovet decided to stay in Canton, establishing a
watchmaking dynasty that lasted 80 years. Very soon in China,
“Bo Wei” became synonymous for a watch. In the currency turmoil
of late Manchu China, BOVET watches spread throughout the
country as a medium of exchange....

watch is a Swiss made Bovet Amadeo Fleurier 1822 Jumping Hours AFHS002
crafted two body 18k White Gold round shaped case measuring 42mm
diameter. Fixed 18 White Gold bezel lugs capped by cabochon sapphires.
Automatic movement, power reserve up to ± 48hours. Displays a
Black/Grey skeletonized, with raised White Gold outer ring, sapphire at
12, Tahitian mother-of-pearl revolving minute ring with Arabic
numerals, and; fixed red-arrow minute indicator and White Gold circular
hour aperture serve as hands, minute track at outer rim. .
Arabic-numbered jumping-hour ring indicator at 6 o’clock.
Cabochon-capped crown, Scratch resistant Sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback. Black leather strap with White Gold Deployment
buckle. Water resistant to 30m/99ft. Display signed " Bovet ", Caseback
inscribed & numbered, Movement signed...

crafted two body 18k White Gold round shaped case… The Bovet watch
brand has expanded its Fleurier 42 Jumping Hours collection with a new
42 mm model pocket watch style. This is not surprising, since a
significant portion of the watches offered by Bovet provide this unique
opportunity. The round case of the Fleurier 42mm Jumping Hours is made
of 18K White Gold. The strap mounts and crown are set with Blue
Sapphires. The dial is made of gold, with a black jumping hour and a
minute ring around the circle. Like all watches in the Fleurier Amadeo
collection, the model can easily be transformed from a wristwatch into a pocket watch.
The model is equipped with the manufacture automatic movement Bovet
Fleurier 13BA04-HS with a power reserve of 48 hours, with a Fully
engraved by hand in Fleurisanne style 22-carat gold rotor. The strap
is made of black alligator leather with a classic buckle made of 18k
