A wonderful original antique print of the south Indian city of Cowlang (Kollam) showing a plan view with a key to the main buildings.
It was originally published in 1672 in Philip Baldeus's A
true and exact description of the most celebrated East India coast of Malabar
and Coromandel, and of the island of Ceylon, with all the adjacent countries and was then published in English in Churchill's Voyages and Travels in 1744 (3rd ed).
It is very finely engraved with several sailing ships depicted. The printed area measures approximately 350mm x 275mm with margins beyond, blank verso.
Condition report: Excellent condition, folds as published, light toning as is normal. See photographs.
