Assigning a Registration Plate to Your UK Vehicle
This registration plate can be allocated to vehicles in the UK.
No Additional Fees for Assignment
There are no extra charges when transferring this registration to a vehicle. The assignment fee is already covered, meaning you won’t need to pay anything further to assign it to your vehicle.
Registration and Vehicle Age Requirements
Can I Use This Registration on My Vehicle?
Most UK registration plates include a date identifier in the form of a letter or number. The specific registration age is listed in the item details of this listing. It is important to note that a registration plate cannot be used to make a vehicle appear newer than it actually is. Before purchasing, ensure that the registration is suitable for your vehicle. If you are unsure, feel free to reach out for assistance in verifying dates.
Example 1: Prefix Registration (AXXX XXX)
Issued between August 1983 and July 1984.
Suitable for vehicles from 1983 onwards.
Cannot be assigned to a vehicle older than 1983.
Example 2: Current Style Registration (XX10 XXX)
Issued between March 2010 and August 2010.
Suitable for vehicles from 2010 onwards.
Cannot be assigned to a vehicle older than 2010.
Dateless Registrations
Registrations issued before 1963 do not contain date identifiers and can be used on any vehicle, regardless of age.
Retaining or Selling Your Registration Plate
Once assigned to your vehicle, the registration belongs to you indefinitely. You can transfer it to future vehicles, provided they meet the age requirements. If you sell your vehicle before acquiring a new one, you have the option to remove the registration and place it on a retention certificate for up to 10 years.
If you wish to sell the registration, you can transfer it to a retention certificate and pass it on to the buyer.
What Is Needed for the Assignment Process?
To complete the assignment, certain details from your vehicle’s V5C logbook will be required. If applicable, a set of number plates will be shipped to you before the assignment is finalized. These will be sent via a tracked, next-day courier service requiring a signature upon delivery.
Once you have the latest version of your V5C logbook and any required physical plates, the assignment process can begin. Standard processing time is approximately three working days. However, this timeframe is an estimate based on industry experience and not a guaranteed service period.
After the Registration Is Assigned
Once the registration has been successfully transferred to your vehicle, you will receive confirmation via email. You must attach the new plates to your vehicle and notify your insurance provider within 72 hours.
A revised V5C logbook will be issued and sent to you by mail within 7 to 10 days. Once received, you should securely dispose of the old logbook. The registration will now be officially linked to your vehicle, and you will remain its legal owner.
Receiving the Registration Certificate Instead of Assignment
If preferred, the registration certificate can be sent to you via mail rather than being directly assigned to your vehicle. If the registration is a gift, the certificate details can be updated accordingly before being dispatched.
As an additional option, a complimentary set of plates can be included with the registration certificate, making it a great gift choice. All fees are covered, so the recipient will not need to make any further payments.
