A native of Tulare, California, Michael Thomas Morgan was selected in Round1 (#4 overall) of the MLB Amateur Draft in 1978 by the Oakland Athletics, and reached the Major Leagues with that team the same year. Between 1982 and 1999, Mike Morgan pitched, almost exclusively as a starter, for the Major League New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers, finishing out his playing career for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2000 to 2002.
