Size: Each sheet measures approximately 415mm x 345mm with margins beyond; blank verso.

Description: a very finely steel-engraved, outline hand coloured pair of maps showing the World in hemispheres. It incorporates significant detail of place names and topography.

Provenance: 'Maps of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge', Vol I, London, Chapman and Hall, 1844

Condition: Generally very good condition. Light age toning. The eastern hemisphere sheet has some marks and two short closed tear to the top edge (all well away from the printed area). It also has a 1cm closed tear at the right edge of the sheet, just entering the printed border and another 0.5cm closed tear (not affecting the printed area). The western hemisphere has a 0.5cm closed tear at the right edge of the sheet (not affecting the printed area). Both sheets would be perfect for framing either separately or together. Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.
