This earlier version is necessary for error free work on some of the earlier versions (legacy) equipment and drivers of i-Vu equipment. If you have driver or program loading errors related to i-Vu 7.0 or earlier, this tool might resolve the problem.
Since Tech tools 8.0 license expired as of beginning of 2025, you have to change the clock back in time on your PC for it to operate. It is an inconvenience, but it is less of inconvenience comparing to a controller that's refusing to accept a program or i-Vu that will not get synched with equipment due to driver differences.
This adapter is not submerged in clear epoxy; instead, it is encased in a sealant composite plus heatshrink, proofing it against moisture and dirt damage (but do not try to submerge it in water or sand; the clear epoxy one will also not do so well in those conditions).
The adapter is more compact in size due to the USB port being attached directly to the circuit board. It is soldered very securely to it and reinforced. If you wish for a flexible connection between the PC USB port and the adapter, you can use a USB extension cable.
The adapter has the identical Silicon Labs CP210x chipset, so the original instructions from Carrier on driver installation fully apply.
With this purchase, you will get the USB-L adapter, Rnet cable, and a USB drive. The USB drive has the Field Assistant 8.0 on it, expiration date of which is May 31st, 2025.
