Your purchase includes a fine antique 1800s wooden carved chess set within a sturdy antique wooden box.

Great care was taken to create these pieces. They are detailed, especially the knights; The carving is comparable to Jaques of London sets of the same size and period. Weights are present in all pieces except pawns.

The chessmen are in very nice condition. There are no chips or cracks in the pieces. It appears two of the felts need replacement due to age; please see photos.

The white boxwood pieces have developed a heavy patina over years of play, creating a pleasant, warm glow.

The box is of sturdy construction, with a sliding lid and quality joinery.

The king measures 3”. This size is perfect to bring to your local chess club or keep at home.
