Peill and son was established in Germany in 1903. In 1947, the glass factory Putzler, which had been founded in 1869, was merged with Peill to form Peill & Putzler. The company made a wide range of glass goods including vases, wine glasses, decanters, and lamp fittings. It closed in 1997, but its name was reused by the lighting firm of Paul Neuhaus. Original Peill & Putzler pieces are displayed in museums including the Corning Museum of Glass and the MoMa.
