"Poseidon" Letterio Calapai, signed in pencil 3.75"x5" relief print, mat 10"x12"

Letterio Calapai (1901-1993) was a well known printmaker and painter. He was also a lifelong family friend. Each year he sent a small print as his Christmas greeting to close friends and family. This is one of those prints. I believe it portrays Poseidon, god of the sea. That makes sense as Leo as he was known to friends loved the sea. He lived in Maine during the summertime and had a small studio there which eventually became my parents summer home.

The print has been matted in a fresh mat and is in excellent condition. It is small but very detailed. The paper Leo used appears to be a rice or thin linen paper so the print is quite delicate.
