An iconic Portmeirion design from the 1960's, this pottery canister or vase is in the Greek Key pattern.
A fabulous piece made in England, the black and white colourway typifies its era when monochromatic fashion was everywhere.
The Greek Key design was brought into production in 1963 and was based on an antique copper plate found with the bold pattern. The design was adapted to silkscreen and applied to the pottery form. Because of this, there are two spots (one at the top and one at the bottom of the piece), where the silkscreen doesn't align perfectly - please see photos. No chips or cracks with lovely, shiny glaze.
I believe this piece would have once had a cork lid, which is missing but can be easily replaced. Would make a fantastic vase as well!
Measures 7 1/4" high x 3 1/2" wide.
