This fine pair of coastal maps, featured on a single sheet, depicts the mouth of the Yangtze River and the Gulf of Pe-chili, complete with fathom soundings.

These maps originally appeared in The Weekly Dispatch newspaper, which published a total of 118 maps between 1856 and 1862, each marked by a half-globe emblem topped with Mercury. Contributors included prominent engravers John Dower and Edward Weller.
