A fantastic and very finely carved antique Japanese gourd inro.
It is a three sectioned inro modelled as a gourd with each sliding up to reveal the compartments, all handcarved from boxwood with realistic detailing and magnificent carved crickets with black glass eyes.
There is foliage to the top of the gourd.
It is strung with a cotton cord but this has been restrung at some point and signed to a disc on the front.
A very well made and decorative piece.
Japanese make, early 20th century.
Condition: Good used condition overall, general signs of use and wear commensurate with age, restrung on the outer, small chip to one corner
