Philmac’s micro irrigation solutions, compatible with Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) pipes, are designed to meet a wide range of landscape and agricultural needs by ensuring consistent and efficient water flow. The selection includes filters with 13 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm barb inlet and outlet sizes, all fitted with 300-micron (50 mesh) cartridges to effectively filter out fine particles such as sand, silt, and other small debris. Each filter comes with a robust black case, end caps, and a mesh filter that together help maintain clean water flow throughout your irrigation system.

For additional versatility, Philmac offers 1″ (25 mm) filter cartridge cases in black and clear polycarbonate, engineered to securely hold 1″ filter cartridges. These cases accommodate both 500-micron (30 mesh) and 300-micron (50 mesh) cartridges, allowing for customized filtration levels based on water quality needs. The 500-micron cartridges are suitable for filtering larger particles, like small stones and organic debris, while the 300-micron cartridges provide finer filtration, capturing smaller particles such as dirt and algae. This flexibility ensures dependable performance across a variety of irrigation applications, from residential gardens to larger agricultural fields.

What is a micron?

A micron (µm) is a unit of measurement that indicates the size of particles the filter can remove from water. For example, a 5-micron filter can capture and remove particles as small as 5 micrometers in diameter. The smaller the micron rating, the finer the filtration, allowing the filter to remove smaller contaminants from the water.

A micron is measured to one millionth of a meter. (Eg. 1000µm is equal to 1mm)

  • 300 Micron (50 Mesh) Filter:
    • This filter captures particles that are 300 microns or larger in size. It is effective for filtering out smaller debris such as fine sand, silt, algae, and other fine particulate matter. This level of filtration is suitable for systems where smaller particles need to be removed to prevent clogging of emitters, sprinklers, or other irrigation components.
  • 500 Micron (30 Mesh) Filter:
    • A 500-micron filter captures particles that are 500 microns or larger. It is designed to filter out larger particles like coarse sand, small gravel, leaves, insects, and other larger organic matter. This filter is ideal for situations where only larger debris needs to be removed to protect pumps and other larger components in the irrigation system.
