A fair copy of this scarce, large, illustrated book on Rome and the United States, making comparisons particularly in terms of approaches to religion and government.   Leather is stained and the leather is torn along the front joint.   Gilded page edges; interior of book is in overall good shape--some minor stains and a couple of tiny tears on page edges.  A big book--895 pages; it resembles a Bible in its shape and scope & binding style.
