Ladies of yesteryear often purchased yardage, then cut and hemmed the yardage to make kitchen towels.  They hand stitched the hems and applied a transfer pattern and embroidered over the top of it.  Days of the Week (also known as DOW) towels are very collectible and a fun addition to a retro or farmhouse chic kitchen.

This set of TWO towels were handmade of flour sacking, hemmed in a red running stitch and embroidered with elephants doing household chores.  MONDAY features Mrs. Elephant, wearing an apron, as she hangs her freshly laundered clothes on the line.  SUNDAY is her day of rest.  Her feet are propped up on a small foot stool as she reads the Sunday paper.  Notice her eye glasses!!

Both towels measure:  32" by 29"

Condition:  Good to fair vintage condition.  Both towels have several small holes; Monday towel has a yellow spot.  Still wonderful towels from yesteryear for your vintage towel collection or to put back into service or to craft with.

Freshly laundered, line dried and pressed in our smoke free studio.
