Canadian singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco sampled “The Word II” in his song “Chamber of Reflection,” bringing Shigeo Sekito into the international spotlight. Since then, Sekito’s music has been sampled by various artists, with the prices of his vintage records soaring. His unique sound continues to captivate music enthusiasts worldwide, particularly those seeking ambient, chill, and rare groove tracks.
Amidst this growing recognition, a new CD has been released, carefully compiling selected tracks from four albums in Sekito's Elegant Electone Special Sound Series. Adding to the excitement, the CD includes a remix of “The Word II” by Torii Masamichi of the buzzworthy band Triple Fire, who has performed alongside Mac DeMarco. This marks Torii’s debut as a remixer.
The booklet accompanying the CD features commentary by Chee Shimizu, a leading authority on obscure soundscapes.
