This non-holo 1st Edition Gastly 33/62 is from the Fossil set which was the 3rd set introduced for world wide play in 1999 in the English language. This card has been professionally graded by Certified Guaranty Company (CGC), which I believe has the strictest grading standards in the business, and has received a near perfect score of NM/Mint 8. Myself, and many other Pokémon collectors, believe the CGC grade is stricter than a PSA grade therefore potentialy making these cards more valuable if you are looking to add the best card available for your collection! This card showcases Mitsuhiro Arita's award worthy artwork. Distributed by Wizards of the Coast, this card is sure to continue increasing in value year after year!
This card cost somewhere between $17-20 to be graded, including shipping to and from Certified Guaranty Company. It will cost $4.55-5.00 to ship to you. After eBay takes out it's 14-15% fee on the cost of the card, and shipping, I would be making a lot less than you might think for a card I've been holding on to for over 25 years! There is not much wiggle room on my price.
The practice of always pricing a card by the last few sold on eBay will only cause the value of Pokémon cards to continue dropping. There is no way the values can ever move up using that flawed formula! The best way to increase the value of the cards in our hobby is to price our cards according to rarity and availability. It has been over 22-25 years since WOTC era cards were produced. The modern Pokémon cards are distributed at a much higher volume because distributors are cracking open cases and selling individual cards on eBay and TCG marketplace, as well as selling to their retailers. The modern cards will never be as valuable as the vintage WOTC era cards because of the double production needed to supply distributors, retailers, and individuals like you!
