This small (possibly child size) Georgian red Morocco leather sewing box was produced in England circa the 1810 period. The box is complete with its original blank oval plaque to the lid; this one is blank ready to have your initials applied. The box opens via the hinged lid to reveal the inner compartment for storing your sewing tools.
The inside lid of this Regency era box is a delight with its printed scene featuring two fashionable Regency ladies walking in the countryside, each holding a parasol. We just love those Regency costumes!!The box is complete with its 7 x original storage compartments, 4 vacant at the back. The silk lidded front compartment still has its lift off fitted cut steel, waxer spoon tweezers, scissors and stiletto/awl. A red leather fitted needlebook slides vertically into its holder. The original fitted cream silk pincushion remains. The fitted red leather clad compartment has two circular spaces, one of which contains a small white metal thimble. The box is also complete with its original fancy brass escutcheon and its original gilt ball feet.
This is a stunning Regency sewing box, the perfect item for anyone who loves all things Regency or has a passion for sewing!
