No type of Indonesian ikat enjoys more popularity abroad than the Sumba island hinggi, the large cloths of Sumbanese men, that are always created in pairs: the hinggi duku, which is worn on the shoulders, and the hinggi kalambung, worn on the hips, which is also used as a shroud. This ikat represent perfect example of hingge kalambung textile. Vintage, collectible peice was made around 1990.
Hand-spun hand-woven plan based dyes rectangular shape antique ikat, size 175cmx75 cm. Thick strong textile with fringes. Colors are brown. red, yellow, indigo blue. Recognizable animal motif with scull tree the ikat is true masterpieces of dyeing and weaving.
