A large, very heavy crock with a large embossed rooster and a screw on copper metal lid. I can't tell if this crock is metal with a painted or salt glazed finish or if the metal rim for the lid makes it sound different when tapped than normal crockery. You tap the base and it sounds like normal crockery.
Made sometime between 1910 - 1925, which makes it either Antique if before 1924, or vintage if after 1923.
Regardless, this is a great kitchen large capacity storage crock. The lid is a good tight fit, but has a very small dent on top, so small they pictures don't pick it up. There are no nicks or cracks. Perfect for that country or farmhouse style kitchen. I found in an antique store on sale, they put their own sticker on the bottom & is safe for food storage. In fact I had to clean flour out of it.
Measures Approx: 11.5" H x 6.75" Round, Weighing Approx: 5lbs & holds about 20 cups (over a gallon).
