The History of
... IWC.... was founded in Schaffhausen Switzerland in
1868. They manufacture seven different watch collections:
The Aquatimer, the DaVinci, the Grande Complication, the
Ingenieur, the Pilot’s Watch, the Portofino, and the
Portguese---Ask any watch collector which Swiss
Manufacturer is best known for designing pilot’s
watches and they will immediately answer "IWC." Since
the early 1930’s IWC has been producing the world’s
finest and most durable pilot’s watches. They produced the first
Big Pilot’s watch in 1936 and then quickly expanded the
Pilot’s Watch line to include the Double Chronograph,
the Chronograph Automatic, the Mark XV, the Spitfire
Double Chronograph, the Spitfire Chronograph Automatic,
the Spitfire UTC, and the Spitfire Mark XV....
The featured
watch is a Swiss made IWC Big Pilot's "Top Gun Miramar " IW5019-02 in
polished Ceramic/ Titanium solid two-body round shaped case measuring
48.2mm diameter. Fixed stepped Ceramic PVD bezel, downturned lugs, A
soft iron inner case secures the mechanism against magnetic fields..
Automatic movement, power reserve up to ± 7days (168hours). Displays a
“Grise” Matte Anthracite Grey finish dial with Red numeral hour
markers, Red hour chapter, Bold off-white painted Arabic Numeral &
index minute track. hour markers at outer rim. Black rimmed hands with
luminous beige fill, large central seconds hand. 7 Days power reserve,
power reserve indicator at 3 O'clock, date at 6 O'clock, Titanium screw
in crown. Scratch-resistant with anti-reflective coatings crystal on
both surfaces, solid Titanium inscribed caseback with the Top Gun
U.S.N. Fighter Weapons School logo.. Kevlar green fabric strap with
steel IWC Deployment buckle. Water resistant to 60m / 180 ft. ..Display

Ceramic solid two-body round shaped case… IWC has always been pushing
things forward and trying new ideas…. The TOP GUN Miramar series is a
tribute to the birthplace of the Top Gun legend, the pilots’ school of
the US Marines in Miramar, California.. The Pilot’s Watch “Top Gun
Miramar” is a very hip watch design. It has a strong striking appeal.
The color scheme of iridescent grey, brown tone, red and cream are
matched to perfection. The dial configuration takes after the pilot’s
watches from WWII, with the minute track laid out where the hours
normally are and a beautiful red “sector” style inner track that
displays hours. Placement of the power reserve and date are Big Pilot
signature. The case features a ceramic finish, and a ceramic black PVD
bezel, it’s actually more of an anthracite color. It’s a really nice
combination of metals. A sapphire scratch-resistant crystal with
anti-reflective coatings on both surfaces that is secured against any
displacement by a drop in air pressure. A soft iron inner case secures
the mechanism against magnetic fields. “The combination of materials
make the relatively light for its size, extremely durable &
