**Please Note: When comparing your old belt to the new one, it is common for the new belt to be 1" to 3" shorter in length than the old, stretched and worn belt. 

You should have to stretch the belt fairly hard put the brush-roll in place, it is this tension that causes the brush-roll to turn. Once the brush-roll is in place, make sure the brush spins easily by turning with your hand and the belt is not pinched between the roller and the housing, this would cause the belt to snap immediately if not corrected. It is always a good idea to have spares on hand.
