Made by one of the oldest family pottery firms in the Veneto region of North West Italy, this is an exquisite oval seafood platter made in the 1970s.  Started in the late 17th Century , the Bassano family, in Bassano del Grappa, became famous for their manufacture of tiles and decorative ceramics, with the methods passed down through the generations.

The platter measures 49.5 cm  x 35 cm and stands 5 cm in height, has a scallop and mussel shell, a lobster, lemon, and herb garnishes had painted majolica relief.  It is heavy, weighing approximately 2 kg.  It is a truly beautiful plate. There is a chip to the stand on the base and a little flaked paint on the mussel, but this is age related, and the price has taken this into account.  Please use the photographs as part of the description and to judge the condition for yourself.
