This is a Japanese tansu drawer handle from a 150 year old Japanese tansu (see examples in last three pictures ).  It is solid forged iron with an original burnt lacquer finish and all original patina.  It comes complete with its original back plate and mounting hardware.  Shown in the last three pictures are tansu from our inventory of over 100 chests which use similar hardware.

It measures 3 1/2" wide  (9 cm) .   The distance between mounting holes is 2 5/8" (6.8 cm).
