The print offered here is a highly evocative drypoint etching of a hunting scene by a nearly unknown American artist named Fayette Anthony Dapron (1887-1930) who went by the pseudonym, F.A. du Peyron.  From what I have been able to discover, du Peyron was born in Iowa in 1887 and relocated to Brooklyn New York where he died in 1930.

That du Peyron was an accomplished printmaker is clear from his work such as this etching, but also by the facts that (I) his work was included in Volume 1 of Contemporary American Etching, published by the American Art Dealers Association in 1930, and (ii) his prints were marketed by the renowned print dealer, Frederick Keppel & Co. (See the photo of the scrap of the Keppel label that came to me with the much-abused print).

The Clark Museum has a number of du Peyron's drypoints, including this etching which was issued in an edition of 90 in 1928.  According to the Clark Museum, this drypoint was entitled "The Moose Call" and is number 1955.1830 in the museum's online collection.

This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.  Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions".  For example, offered maps are of the period.  Please check my other listings for additional items of interest.  I will combine shipping.
