MINUSHEART have never sounded more complex. With their third studio album “Calls From Space” the Aachen electro industrial band around frontman DIVER present a first-class concept album.

Guitarist VARY, this time being instrumental in elaborating the twelve album tracks, ushers the typical MINUSHEART sound into a new era. As usual, the electronic sound structure around DIVER’s memorable voice defines the usual sound. Especially VARY’s varied use of guitars provides the songs with a really unique feature.

“Calls From Space” impresses with sophisticated arrangements, pleasantly minimalistically used electronic far from smarmy approaches to overblown club sounds, and refrains which get the audience hooked after listening to them over and over again. Hence, MINUSHEART walk on ambitious territory sure as death where there normally are only bands like NINE INCH NAILS, MARILYN MANSON or KMFDM.

“Calls From Space” was produced by Ramón Creutzer who already worked on albums by THE FAIR SEX, NO MORE and the LEGENDARY PINK DOTS back in the 1980s and 1990s. Creutzer refines the MINUSHEART sound considerably which makes it quite distinct from the usual scene mishmash.

Komplexer klang MINUSHEART noch nie. Mit ihrem dritten Studioalbum „Calls From Space“ liefert die Aachener Electro-Industrial-Band um Frontmann DIVER ein Konzeptalbum feinster Güte ab.

Gitarrist VARY, der diesmal maßgeblich an der Entwicklung der zwölf Songs beteiligt war, transportierte den typischen MINUSHEART-Sound in eine neue Epoche. Dabei definiert, wie gewohnt, das elektronische Soundgerüst um DIVER’s einprägsame Stimme das typische Klangbild, wobei vor allem VARY’s abwechslungsreich eingesetzte Gitarren den Songs ein klares Alleinstellungsmerkmal geben.

„Calls From Space“ besticht durch ausgeklügelte Arrangements, wohltuend minimalistisch eingesetzte Elektronik fernab bombastischer Club-Sound Anbiederungen, und Refrains, die sich vor allem beim mehrfachen Durchhören mehr und mehr in Ohrwürmer verwandeln. Somit schreitet MINUSHEART bombensicher auf einem anspruchsvollen Terrain, auf dem sich normalerweise nur Bands wie NINE INCH NAILS, MARILYN MANSON oder KMFDM bewegen.

Produziert wurde „Calls From Space“ von Ramón Creutzer, der bereits in den 1980er und 1990er Jahren Alben von THE FAIR SEX, NO MORE und den LEGENDARY PINK DOTS produzierte. Creutzer verfeinerte den MINUSHEART-Sound nochmals deutlich, so dass er sich klar vom Einheitsbrei der Szene absetzt.
