WHAT WE LOVE:
The Seiko 62MAS, officially known as the Seiko 6217-8000, was Seiko's first dive watch introduced in 1965. Its name is derived from the watch's movement caliber "62" and "AutoMAtic Selfdater". With a 38mm stainless steel case, it boasted a water resistance of 150 meters and featured a bidirectional rotating bezel. The dial showcased large luminous hour markers and hands for underwater visibility. Powered by the Seiko caliber 6217A automatic movement with a date function, the 62MAS set the foundation for Seiko's later iconic dive watches. Its significance has led Seiko to create modern reinterpretations in recent years.
