Dwarf Billy Tea Gum

(Eucalyptus globulus)

Dwarf Eucalyptus globulus or Southern Blue Gum is a small tree native to south east

Australia.

Dried leaves are EDIBLE and are used in classic Billy Tea.

The leaves have also been used as a flavouring in Australia since colonial times,

especially in combination with a brewed black 'Billy tea'

Billy Tea Gum is one of six very important Eucalyptus species used by indigenous

peoples as a traditional bushfood spice.

Other species include Strawberry Gum, Peppermint Gum, River Gum, Lemon

Ironwood and Cider Gum, which taste exactly like they sound!

Billy Tea Gum is a perfect addition for the bush food garden.

Native seeds often respond well to smoke treatment, which also acts as a natural

fungicide.
