A good quality spoon featuring an enamelled heraldic shield with fleur-de-lis and a dragon breathing fire.
The Latin motto: Dux Vitae Ratio is emblazoned across the shield with a scroll and this roughly translates as reason is the guide to life.
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham assay office, 1913, marks are rubbed but still visible, makers mark EL.
