The Onkyo A-922M is a Japan-Domestic-Market unit that listed for 53,000 Yen (almost $600) back in the late 1990s!  This rare high-end MIDI-sized amplifier was never made available to the price-conscious US market.

*** Please see and listen to my video demonstrating this amplifier playing music! ***

You may see others for sale, but how many of those for sale are in the USA and show the amplifier playing music?

If you are a fan of the later years of the golden age of Japanese HiFi equipment, you know exactly what you are looking at.  Large power reserves, discrete output stage design, massive capacitors made exclusively for Onkyo by Nichicon, and a massive shielded transformer are just some of the numerous highlights of this technically well-designed amplifier.

It has loudspeaker A/B switching, 2 pairs of loudspeaker banana plug / screw connections, 7 audio inputs including phono, subwoofer preamp output, source direct circuit, CD direct circuit, recording selector switch, transferring Tape 1 / Tape 2 and headphone output.  The tactility of operation of this amp is second to none - just feel that massive weighty METAL volume knob.

If you want a stylish piece of kit driving music - not that cheap no-name class D amplifier crap that comes out of other Asian-countries these days - you want this.

I brought this amp back from Japan years ago.  It is in beautiful condition - the faceplate, looking head on, is nearly perfect.  The top and side of the case look excellent with very minor cosmetic wear.

Note - I tested the following functions - Loudspeaker A, Loudspeaker B, and the following inputs:  CD, Line 1, Line 2, Tape, and MD.  I also tested Source Tone, Direct, Processor, and Straight CD.  As well, I tested all the tone control - SuperBass, Bass, Treble and Balance.  All these function work great (see the video).  I did not test phono nor did I record anything as I no longer have the requisite equipment --- but its safe to say the amplifier seems to be performing very well (again see the video).
