Neogene Marine Basins of Northern California: An Informal Guidebook
By James C. Ingle

1987 Fourth International Congress on Pacific Neogene Stratigraphy (Berkeley, California), 8 1/2 x 11 inches tall spiral bound (black plastic comb) in blue printed covers, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs and drawings, 161 pp. Slight soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with a bit of creasing to the lower tip of the front cover and a prior owner name to its top margin. Soiling to page edges. Cracking to the bottom plastic spiral. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - of this rare guide, which OCLC (No. 38675051) locates at only three collections worldwide - Stanford, University of Wisconsin and USGS Denver.

An excellent guide  to the sparsely-studied neogene marine basins of northern California, produced for the 1987 San Francisco meeting of the Congress on Pacific Neogene Stratigraphy, with a field trip built in which focuses on three major marine basins: the Humboldt (Eel River), Point Arena, and Bodega (Point Reyes) basins, all of which have their largest areas incorporated in the submerged portion of the modern continental margin off northern California. This book is aimed at providing: (1) location maps, (2) stratigraphic columns, (3) key illustrations from papers dealing with the paleontology, stratigraphy and general geology of this region, and (4) a selection of previously published papers dealing with both the regional tectonic and geologic evolution of this region as well as detailed stratigraphy of individual sequences which are examined.
