CHINESE SCROLL PAINTING

FISHING IN THE SNOW

THERE IS A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION IN THE BOX (SEE PHOTOS) THAT SAYS THE FOLLOWING:

The painter is only known to be living during the Five Dynasties. A fisherman wearing a rain cloak and a leaf hat and with a fishing rod on his shoulder stands on the bank of a river full of reeds, the ends of which are made stooping by the weighty snow. The painting looks both desolate and silent and depicts vividly the atmosphere of the middle of the winter season.

I GOT THIS AT AN ESTATE SALE AND DO NOT KNOW ANY HISTORY OTHER THAN WHAT IS STATED HERE.

I DO NOT KNOW ANY DEGREE OF AUTHENTICITY OF THE PAINTING.

THE PAINTING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT MEASURES 7” x 17” WHEN ROLLED OUT.
