Candle holder is 5.75 inches tall and base width varies from 3.25 to 3.75 inches. Candle opening is about .75 inches. I tested with one of my tapers and it fit. I am not sure what type of wood this is but if I had to guess I would say pine. It is nice and smoothly polished on the turned area. It is in great shape with no burn marks or missing bark.
