On the original packaging, the garment was described as a “Misses' one-piece dress, suitable for smaller women; right or left closing; in two lengths." Past Patterns thinks there is a possibility that this was used as a maternity dress.

This Dress pattern was originally developed for the size and shape of an early 1920s woman with 37” bust. This is the only size provided with the package.

3 3/4 Yds of 36” Wide fabric
1920s Dresses similar to this we made of gingham or percale and they were colored blue, gray, tan, lavender, blue-plaid, pink-plaid, pink-check, blue-check and black-and-white-check.

The package has a copy of the original art, a material requirements chart and a pattern layout diagram on the front cover. Inside the booklet are written directions for building the garment and historical notes on McCalls. The historical notes are continued on the back cover. We also include the Past Pattern Guide to Editing Garments Due to Bust Size . The patterns are on 2 sheet, hand drawn and computer printed, emulating the originals, 1 36”x73” and 1 36”x37”.
