Description:
During World War II, Britain re-established the World War I Ministry of Information to produce propaganda that encouraged public support for the war. They used a variety of media to reach local and international audiences. Traditional methods like newspapers and posters were complemented by new media such as films, newsreels, and radio. The propaganda covered many themes, promoting hostility toward the enemy, support for allies, and specific war efforts like conserving metal and growing vegetables. A significant focus was on the dictatorial nature of Hitler's government. Germany was portrayed as the primary source of evil among the Axis powers, seen as a greater threat than Japan and Italy. Churchill emphasized that Hitler was the main issue of the war, and the Germans were depicted as inherently evil, with some claiming that atrocities like concentration camps could only happen under German rule, not on French or British soil.
