About: Originally released in December 2021, this is a single piece of un-broken tube of Nitrile rubber (also known as NBR rubber and Buna-N) and therefore there are no join lines. Unlike some other rubber lining which are joined/glued to form one piece. Measures 75-80A under the Shore A hardness scale which slightly harder than bike tyres. Specifically made and cut to measurements of the Scott Bonnar 17inch roller. Stretch fit and will require use of metal to rubber glue (see recommendation below). Roller (red/yellow in colour) is not included in the sale. Shown in pictures to demonstrate fit only.


Condition: Brand New. Surface has scuff marks and scratches.


Application: for 17 inch Scott Bonnars only.


Quantity: You will receive a pair (two) pieces of diamond grooved rubber liners similar to the photos.


Size of Rubber: Internal Diameter: 183mm Thickness: 7mm

Please note our rubber does NOT need to machined down as it is designed to stretch. Our product has been tested on various machines to ensure fitment to the full length of your roller. Buyer beware there are some liners that don't cover the full length of your roller and poorly grooved.


Material: Nitrile rubber (also known as NBR rubber and Buna-N).


Hardness: Semi-rigid 75-80A. Harder than bike tyres but softer than a skateboard wheel. (This rubber has been manufactured under the Shore A hardness scale).


Recommended 'Glue': In general, cyanoacrylate instant adhesive is the best choice for bonding rubbers to metal.  We recommend GMK 2410 Industrial-Grade High Strength Rubber Metal Contact Adhesive. An alternative is to use SikaFlex 11FC. Refer to YouTube videos online as a guide. You can also use cold vulcanizing fluid.


Application: Please ensure that you spread your adhesive over entire surface of the rear roller and inner surface of the rubber liner. Please follow the recommend application method of your chosen adhesive as some require you to wait up to 10 minutes or until adhesive becomes 'tacky'. Rubber liner has not been glued down in the photos and as such may look different when 'glued' to your roller.

We will not be responsible for improper installation. Important - You must align the sleeves against the inner edge of the roller.

Grooves: Grooves are made by hand and as such may vary from the photos. Please message us if you have any particular requirements.

How does this compare against other alternatives? Disregarding the more costly process of vulcanizing, there are two key factors that you may be concerned about. 1. Durability? This is measured in the hardness of the rubber (see details above). A reputable supplier will be able to provide this, just ask how hard is the rubber you use under the Shore A hardness scale. Note there are other factors such as ingredients used and manufacturing process. 2. Will it peel off from the roller? This all depends on the adhesive you use and application. The recommended adhesive provides a tear strength of 0.54 N/mm², which is more than adequate.


Buyer beware of sellers marketing vulcanised rollers that have noticeable join lines, with some not even smoothed/finished off properly. If you are going to spend over $400, you should be made aware. Like any reputable seller, if you are unhappy with our product we offer a full refund.


What is the difference Nitrile vs Natural rubber? Buyer beware! natural rubber demonstrates poor resistance to atmospheric oxygen, ozone, oils, and various hydrocarbon solvents.  In addition, natural rubber products do not have the same high levels of chemical and temperature resistance as nitrile rubber. Nitrile rubber offers resistance to heat aging – often a key advantage over natural rubber, which can harden and lose its damping capability. Nitrile rubber is the preferred choice for applications that require abrasion resistance and metal adhesion. Make sure you do your own research when choosing rubber products, either as slip on or vulcanised for your SB. Purchase with confidence!
