19th Century Folk Art Carved Polychrome Tiger, Zoo study.
Likely made as a zoo study this is a hand carved heavy walnut sculpture of a Tiger. Circa 1860-90, measuring 9.25” by 3.25” by 8”. Open carved mouth with teeth, detailed stripes, tail and paws. Original varnish with patina, has early repairs to kegs and mouth, ears have chips. He has a presence.
