Alma Worthington was my Grand Mother! She was born at home in Maury County near Columbia, Tennessee in 1916. Born the sixth of twelve children to poor buy hard working parents, the family was rich with happiness and an abiding love for God and family.
In 1947 she moved to Dade City, Florida with her husband and two children. In 1990, as a widow, she moved to Tallahassee, Florida to be near her daughter as Macular Degeneration had begun to rob her of vision. With the aid of a Tele-Sensory machine she found the ability to continue to write her stories which have been published within the pages of this book. She tells of her life history, the times growing up in the great depression and the lessons she learned through that time that were passed on to her children, grand children and great grand children. She shares those lessons here.
Granny was an amazing woman. She always chose to look on the bright side of life and rarely complained. She was a true moral example that as a child, I loved to follow. She passed away on February 8, 2003. In the Dedication, she mentions her two children, Jimmy and Nancy. I am Jimmy's youngest son (David). Granny mentions me on page 150 of her book.
