Here's a pretty GOLD MEDAL fountain pen from the National Pen Products Co. of Chicago and circa 1929-1931. This is an oversized flattop pen, 5-3/8" long and a barrel diameter at the cap opening of .51 inches. It is marbled black and pearl with excellent gold filled trim and flawless plastic. The clip is marked GOLD MEDAL and the barrel imprint is NATIONAL PEN PRODUCTS CO., CHICAGO and a GOLD MEDAL within a circle mark. The pen will need a new sac before it will take up ink. The nib is a WARRANTED, 14K, 8. , a large perfect nib with a fine tip and moderate flexibility. Though I can't say for certain, it's possible this is a replacement nib as it is a generic brand. In either case, an outstanding nib. This same model, color, trim configuration appears in the brown book by Schneider and Fischler.
