Why did Mr. Wakefield only play one season in the Major Leagues? The two other players involved in the trade were both good ball players. The statistics he put up were not bad. I had on signature of of a player that had just got one hit in his career. This was more substantial than that and calls for more questions.
"In one season career, Wakefield posted a 3–5 record with a 3.61 ERA in 62 appearances, including four starts and two saves, giving up 48 earned runs on 103 hits and 61 walks while striking out 61 in 119.2 innings of work."
Card comes in a top-loader with a sealed bag over it and has been kept in there since I removed it from a pack. I treat and value all my collectibles and protect them with the best stuff when I can!
These cards of lesser known players are truly what makes Heritage standout. These signatures are often more rare than the players that are well known. It is a great thing Topps did, to honor these players and the role they had, no matter how small. There are a good amount of collectors that these cards are starting to resonate with.
The card is beautiful and Mr. Wakefield looks exactly like he is full of life and ready for 15 more seasons, not this one and only. The cards are not an easy pull, cases are expensive, please respect my prices.
