For sale is a genuine Rolex bubble back watch. Bubble back refers to the first 360 degrees rotor for automatic winding and because of the height of the movement, Rolex had to create a high dome case back to fit the then new movement to the case. The cablire is Rolex 630 with superbalance.

Case style 2940 and serial number 404448 and it is believed to be made between 1945-1946

Original signed Rolex Oyster dome screw down crown, crown tube in good condition and without damaged threads and takes more that 1.5 turns to full screw down.

The watch is in amazing original condition and has not been modified or messed with. Its was recently serviced by myself and currently keeping excellent time (when fully wound, the watch runs within +-10 seconds a day).

The movement has overcoiled hairsrping and Rolex patent Superbalace and it can also be maually wind.

The dial is absolutely original and have developed a lovely golden brown patina. Original gilded minute and hour hands and blue steel second hands. Slightly aged and very minor spotting at the round minute indexes.

The dial read Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Chronometre and Swiss Made, and all the serifs at the letters can be clearly seen. (Please note that early Bubble back dial has chronometer in French, so it reads "Chronomètre" and on the movement is in English so reads Chronometer. It further confirms the dial is original and not reprinted.

The watch measures 32mm across not including the crown and 39mm from lug to lug. Lug size is 17mm
