A classic book on the rise of Tokyo as a modern city and Japan's capital following the Meiji Restoration. The book looks at this early history up until the devastating earthquake of 1923. Written by one of the leading scholars of Japan with nice use of illustrations. A very nice copy in a lovely to handle compact size.

Postage and the Pandemic

Our normal method of postage would be to use Japan Post to deliver by international standards via a form of Airmail/small packet/SAL. However, due to the pandemic acceptance of airmail-related post by Japan Post has been suspended temporarily to many countries so I will only be able to send as follows:

Airmail possible: UK, Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Poland are all currently fine but others may be restricted), New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan are all good at present.

Japan Post is currently offering no airmail options to the USA due to the virus. US buyers can request surface mail but Japan Post does not offer a trackable service and we must caution that it may take several months to arrive. The only air option to the USA I can offer is courier (UPS 4-6 days delivery) but UPS require a contact number for the recipient or they will not accept the package.

Items will typically be sent by a form of recorded delivery. All items with a value of above £40 will require a recorded delivery method of postage and will not be sent by surface mail.

Delivery would normally take from 2-3 weeks but may take 4-5 weeks in the current environment. Please be patient.

Surface mail may be possible, but this would take 1-3 months. If someone from outside these areas wishes to buy an item, please contact me before purchase and I will confirm if there are any postage options, but I repeat Airmail options are currently severely restricted.

I will be posting all items from Japan and will generally use a fixed rate of postage of £9.50 or £10 depending on weight or unless stated differently. Please understand that in the current situation and with the restricted options available I have to assume a higher cost of postage and so have partially built this into the price I am asking for the items as well as my fixed rate of postage.

The item illustrated is what you will receive. No returns will be accepted in the current situation. If there are any problems on receiving the item please contact me to resolve before leaving feedback. Please leave feedback on receipt if satisfied.
