The cleavage of a mineral is its tendency to split easily or to separate along flat planes or surfaces.  There are several common types of cleavage and therefore is a useful property for mineral identification.   This collection illustrates the different types of cleavage, with 6 rock specimens each approximately 1.5 x 1.5" in size.

Each specimen is keyed for identification.
