Luster Collection

Luster is the way in which light is reflected from the surface of a mineral.  Luster can me metallic or nonmetallic.  A mineral with a metallic luster shines like polished metal.  Nonmetallic minerals are described as pearly, vitreous, resinous etc.  Luster is a reliable tool for mineral identification.  This collection demonstrates the property of luster with 15 rock specimens each approximately 1.5 x 1.5" in size.

Each specimen is keyed for identification.
