Here's How it Works:

THIS IS A SERVICE REQUIRING YOU TO SEND YOUR EPIRB TO US

Stage 1: Purchase this Service & Return Your EPIRB to Us

• Having checked your EPIRB Battery Expiry Date and discovering it's out of date, make your purchase of this product, by checking out with eBay
• On receipt of your order, we will contact you with details of how to return your EPIRB to us.
• Return shipping will be at YOUR expense, and we recommend you use a registered delivery, such as Royal Mail Signed-For, or Special Delivery. Something requiring a signature on delivery. WE CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ITEMS BEING LOST IN THE POST, so please be aware of the compensation values the services mentioned offer, should your EPIRB go missing in transit
• It is necessary to return your EPIRB in its CARRY SAFE BRACKET, as this contains a magnet to prevent the EPIRB auto-activating

Stage 2: The Service - What's Replaced?

Being AUTHORISED McMurdo Service Agents, we hold all the necessary GENUINE manufacturer parts & equipment to carry out the service, including:

• A pre-inspection of your EPIRB to check for FULL functionality
• Dismantling your EPIRB to access the batteries internally
• Replacing the batteries for new
• Replacing the sealing gaskets for new
• Replacing all stainless screws for new
• Precisely re-sealing your EPIRB

Stage 3: Testing the PLB

Obviously, it's imperative to us that your EPIRB is returned to you in FULL WORKING ORDER and good for another 6-years. So, once the parts are replaced and the EPIRB is put back together (to correct torque-screw tolerances for sealing), further tests are then carried out, such as:

• Checking the required watertight sealing
• Checking 406MHz transmission
• Checking 121.5MHz transmission
• Checking the Unique pre-programmed message is still programmed & valid
• Checking your Unique PLB ID (Hex-Code, which identifies You at EPIRB/PLB Registry, Falmouth) is still programmed & valid

For these tests, we use McMurdo's own programming software & light pen, available only to Authorised Service Agents. This is the other main reason why we require the EPIRB to be sent back to us for this service. We want this EPIRB to work, should you ever have cause to use it

Stage 4: Return of Your EPIRB post-service

We then return your EPIRB to your registered address, and dispose of the discarded parts, including safe & appropriate disposal of the old batteries

Return shipping is paid for by us (to UK Customers), and will require a signature on delivery

We generally perform the service and have your EPIRB on its way back to you within 1-2 working days of receiving it. Please ignore the "20-day" dispatch time in this listing. We have allowed a window for you to get the EPIRB back to us. Once received, we turn it around very quickly
