Absolutely exquisite French bronze candelabra lamp designed by Henry Cahieux. From the foundry of Ferdinand Barbedienne. Baluster shaft with relief decoration of swallows and vegetation Both artists names are signed Henry Cahieux (1825-1854) and Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) Cahieux and Barebediennee one of the most important metalworkers of the 19th century The elegant handles are ormolu gilt bronze The lamp sits on a red "Griotte" marble base with ormolu bronze clawfeet Made in France during the Napoleon III period
Point of Attention: There is a slight bend to the small vertical bronze section below the shade area on which the electrical wiring is attached Not noticeable
The lamp with shade measures 32 1/2 inches in height.
29 1/2 inches high without shade. The base measures 4 inches high 6 inches deep 6 inches wide Weight is 10.2 pounds Diameter of lamp measures 9 1/2 inches
Lamp is signed by both Cahieux and Barbedienne on bottom of the amphora.. Switch on electrical cord - pull chains on sockets
Condition is excellent except for the slightest curvature in the center post adjacent to the bobeches It is so slight that it is hard to see in the photograph. Mentioned for the sake of accuracy.
